Farewell! a word that must be, and hath been - A sound which makes us linger; - yet - farewell!

It was a cold, wet and nasty day at the DMS when out of the dark and misty shadows came... There is no reason for this picture to be here other then I wanted to share with you one of my all-time favorite images from my three tours with D/Topo and DMS. I was a bit apprehensive that if you didn't see it now you might be too misty-eyed later from this magnificent web site honoring our dearly-departed DMS.
If you have ANY historic curiosity – at all – this Belvoir Memory Trip site is a fantastic trip to see into some really famous and fantastic people: George Washington, the Fairfax’s and “Belvoir”. Just to give you a flavoring for this site... George had a fling with Sarah Fairfax while she and hubby were living in Belvoir (the estate name for the Fairfax's).... Belvoir means; Beautiful View and dates from the Norman period (1066), etc. etc... Have you were wondered why the county Fort Belvoir is in is named "Fairfax"?? This history is Very Layered and goes back 4000 years so sit back and enjoy the history of the area where you spent many enjoyable years – I sure did.
